Television Warrantee & carpet cleaner warrantee

8/7/14

One evening I got a call from a Sears rep trying to get me to renew my warranty on the 50" TV set.  I was tired, and I told him I didn't want to do anything tonight. Asked him to call me tomorrow and I would discuss then.  He asked me instead of his calling, how about he sends me some paper with information regarding the benefit of the warranty and I could call back if I want it.  Next morning I check my email, and there was an email from Sears.  I open it, and it congratulated me for extending my warranty period.  Also, the email gave me a link to download and to print my certificate.  I called Sears and told them what I wrote above.    After a few more calls from Sears asking me things about the conversation - Did I give the salesperson my card number - No.  They took off the charge, and I heard nothing more from them.

Warranty sales must be terrible right now.  A month or so ago a Sears rep asked me to renew my expired warranty on my carpet cleaner.  I told her that my carpet cleaner was not working.  She said if I replace it right then I could take the cleaner in for repair.  I agreed to buy the warranty, and I took the cleaner over to Sears.  They fixed it.  That was the third time the carpet cleaner had been in service for repairs.

I still haven't used the carpet cleaner since the last repair.  Guess I better  If it stops working again I'll give up and buy a different machine.
